Bentwood Chair
The Michael Thonet designed No.18 original was produced by Michael Thonet and Sons in 1876 and has become a fixture of bentwood design history. Thonet, a German cabinet maker, was the first to create successful bentwood furniture designs. Thonet envisioned the new forms possible by using steam to make large pieces of wood pliable.
